The beautiful stand of heritage trees to the west of the church have taken a beating in the past few years. There were the lightning strikes--two of them--and most recently, the devastating effects of wind and snow.
Surrey responded swiftly to our request and sent out an arborist to make an assessment. The two most southern trees both have dead wood and will need to be topped. At the same time pieces of dead wood will be pruned from all of the trees. The debris scattered around the trunks--brought down in the wind--will also be removed. The work should be completed within the next couple of weeks.
The arborist is recommending that some sort of lightning rod be attached to save the trees from further bolts from the heavens, but this is something that they will have to take to council.
