We're Canadians. We are used to preparing for winter. Checking the tires (preferably before the first snowfall!), digging out last years' sweaters and then going and buying new ones anyway. Getting the annual flu shot. Changing the summer bed quilt for the winter one. Wondering how you can possibly lose one boot...
But what about preparing for winter when you are desperately poor? A week or so ago we had an auction at our Thanksgiving dinner and raised over $300 for Mexico. Conny has been able to make contact with the doctor who works in the far south when he was back in town to pick up supplies. He said that warm blankets, children's clothing and antibiotics were all desperately needed.
Isn't it great to know that we can really make a difference?
