On April 1st, St. Oswald's celebrated Quinceanera for one of our parishioners. Turning fifteen is a big event in Latin America, and guests came from as far away as Guatemala to participate in the church service. During the service, the vows made at confirmation were repeated, before the family led the way to the altar rail for communion. Much of the music was in Spanish--a wonderful brother and sister duo. Following the service, there was a delicious meal and the young folks--and young at heart--enjoyed dancing to the oldies (YMCA was a big hit!) Guests received gifts prepared by the family and included litte quinceanera dolls brought from Guatemala. In the photo of the first dance--the birthday girl and dad--you can see a photo in the background of our young lady as a baby model!
