Some time ago, Surrey sent out the arborist to look at the heritage trees which border us to the west. The sad news was that the most southern tree, the one struck by lightning, was slowly dying. The good news was that they had installed a lightning rod on the tallest of the remaining firs. However...this being Surrey and copper being copper, the wires were soon torn down. Sheila met the arborist crew quite by chance as they were checking up on all the heritage trees after the big windstorm. She told him about the theft and he said to leave it with him. Fingers crossed this time the trees will stay protected.
